In Akureyri, the main city in North Iceland, there are paid parking areas within the city center, while most parking spaces on the outskirts of the city are free to use. Below, you can find details about all the parking zones in Akureyri and their associated fees.

In the city center of Akureyri, there are two parking zones: P1 and P2. The charging hours for both zones are consistent, spanning from Monday to Friday, 10:00 - 16:00.

Within parking zone P1 and P2, there are designated areas parallel to the streets where the maximum parking duration is limited to 2 hours. These temporary parking zones are indicated by street signs specifying the maximum time allowed.

Green parking spaces and electric charging stations are designated for vehicles that operate solely on environmentally friendly energy sources like electricity, hydrogen, or methane. Parking fines and violation fines 

There are two categories of parking violation charges. The first is the extra parking fines that are applied to vehicles when the use of a paid parking space has not been paid for or has been paid insufficiently. The second one is parking violation fines that are applied to vehicles parked unlawfully and violating traffic regulations. The price for both categories is 3.090.- ISK.
