How to Create a Tesla Account for Supercharging
Why You Need a Tesla Account
If you have rented a Tesla from Sixt Iceland, you will need a Tesla account to use the Tesla Supercharger network for charging during your trip. Superchargers are Tesla's fast-charging stations and are available at multiple locations across Iceland.
Without a Tesla account, you will not be able to initiate a charging session at a Supercharger.
Step-by-Step: Creating Your Tesla Account
1. Open the registration link
Go to the Tesla account registration page:
We recommend doing this before picking up your vehicle.
2. Enter your details
Fill in the registration form with:
- Your email address
- A password of your choice
- Your first and last name
- Your phone number
3. Verify your email
Tesla will send a verification email to the address you provided. Open the email and click the verification link to activate your account.
4. Download the Tesla app
Once your account is created, download the Tesla app on your smartphone:
Log in to the app using the email and password you just created.
5. Add a payment method
To use Superchargers, you need a payment method on file in your Tesla account.
In the Tesla app, go to Account → Add Payment Method and enter your credit or debit card details.
âš¡ Please note: Supercharger fees are charged directly to your Tesla account by Tesla. These charges are separate from your Sixt Iceland rental and are your responsibility as the renter.
Charging Your Tesla at a Supercharger
Once your account is set up with a payment method:
- Drive to any Tesla Supercharger location.
- Plug in the charging cable — charging will start automatically and be billed to your Tesla account.
- You can monitor charging progress in the Tesla app.
You can find Supercharger locations in Iceland directly in the Tesla app under Charging → Superchargers.
