Toll – Hornafjörður Bridge (Route 1)

Since September 2026, a toll is charged for driving across the new bridge over Hornafjarðarfljót on Route 1 (the Ring Road) near Höfn in South-East Iceland. If you are driving the Ring Road between Jökulsárlón and Höfn, you will cross it.

Price

  • Passenger cars (under 3,500 kg): 1,500 ISK per trip.

How and when to pay

  • Pay online at spolur.is.
  • Pay within 24 hours after crossing the bridge. Each crossing counts as a separate trip.

What happens if you don't pay?

There are no toll booths: cameras register the license plate, and unpaid tolls are billed to the vehicle owner, which is SIXT. We will then pass the toll on to you together with a fine handling fee. See Parking, tolls and fines in Iceland for details.

Tip: Pay right after crossing – it only takes a minute and saves you the extra fee.
