Returning Your Car
Returning your car at Keflavík Airport is quick – but leave enough time for your flight. Here's how it works during opening hours.
How much time do I need?
We recommend arriving at our return station about 3 hours before your flight:
- Returning the car: usually 5–10 minutes.
- Getting to the terminal: 5–10 minutes on foot or with our shuttle.
- Check-in and security: can take a long time at the airport's busiest hours.
Step by step
- Drive to the return station at Blikavöllur 5, Keflavíkurflugvöllur – open 06:00–20:00 daily. Open in Google Maps
- Fill up or charge before you return: petrol and diesel cars with a full tank, electric cars with at least 80% charge.
- Remove all your belongings – check the glove box, the trunk, under the seats and the charging cables.
- Hand over the key. Our staff check the car together with you – fuel or charge level, mileage and any damage.
- Settle any open items. Damage found at the return inspection is charged on the spot.
- Head to the terminal – a short walk of about 500 meters, or our shuttle on request. See Return station – walking route & shuttle.
Note: The shuttle doesn't run on a fixed schedule. At busy times there may be a short wait.
